Remembering Thomas (Tom) Tuma

(L-R: Tom Tuma, drums, and Leo Peddle, accordion)

Thomas (Tom) Tuma (1922 to 1947) was a pioneering drummer in Western Newfoundland. During World War II, Tom regularly played at the Stephenville United States Air Force Base (later known as the Ernest Harmon Air Force Base). He also played at the prestigious Glynmill Inn in Corner Brook.

Unfortunately Tom drowned at the age of 25 as a result of a boating accident near Shellbird Island on the Lower Humber River.

Tom enjoyed his car with its custom paint job and is remembered by his family for his charm and charitable nature. Tom was well liked in the community and his funeral was very well attended.
